Confessions of a Placement Student: August
Hello! I’m Bonnie and I’m taking over from Heidi working in the Support department at Tikit in Fareham. I will be working as a Junior Business Support Administrator while I undertake my student placement year from the University of Portsmouth. I’ll be continuing the monthly blog Heidi wrote during her time at Tikit.
So, a little something about me! I’m currently studying Maths at Portsmouth Uni. Originally I’m from rural Sussex but have moved to city life on the south coast for the duration of my course.
I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far! My first few weeks seem to have flown by pretty fast. I’ve already come a long way from my fear of answering the telephone. However, all the clients I have spoken to so far have been kind and patient while I ask questions. Everyone in the office is easy to get along with and there’s always somebody on hand to help.
Feature of the month: New beginnings
On my first day I was lucky enough to start my journey at Tikit with two other new starters, Tom and Ryan, who are both working in the P4W Applications team within Support.
As we were taken around the Fareham office to be introduced to our new colleagues, it was reassuring to see two faces as concerned as mine – how will we remember all of these names?
After all of the introductions it was time to go it alone, sort of. I spent the first week doing my best sponge impression as I tried to learn everything Heidi had learned in her year on placement. It’s safe to say, there’s lots to learn but Heidi was a great teacher and I wish her luck in her final year back at University.
At the end of this month we’ll have to say goodbye to Yanna, another placement student. Tom will be taking over from her as the new Junior Applications Support Analyst and has been learning about his role from Yanna for the last few weeks. Yanna has been a big part of the team over the last year. She will be missed by us all as she heads back to Uni.
While I’m fearing the worst for my commute time next month (the schools go back you see), I can’t wait to get stuck in and learn about different areas of Tikit’s business and find out what I’m most interested in. I’m excited about the adventure ahead of me and look forward to sharing it with you…
