Confessions of a Placement Student: May
In a month with two bank holiday weekends, we’ve had some lovely weather. It seems hard to believe that just a couple of months ago the country was coated in a layer of snow! Luckily most of May seems to have had a mini heat wave. Many of us would say at times it was too hot but the weather can never impress us Brits. Some very clever people in the office tactically took annual leave either side of the bank holiday to extend an already long weekend – unfortunately I was not one of them!
We’ve welcomed a new face in Support – Lydia joined our Specialist Support team led by Reuben earlier this month. She will be assisting Tom in providing Support for NetDocuments & TMS along with other document management products. Lydia has settled in well to Support and has already been dealing with your document management queries.
This month our first P4W Regional User Group (#RUG18) events took place in Manchester and Scotland. This year there were talks on the latest features & functionality of P4W and innovation. The events included workshops which covered some best practice hints and tips for P4W users as well as leadership & operations. Don’t forget our National User Group Conference event this year is on the 15th & 16th November. We’re already taking reservations. Details to follow nearer the time but if you would like to reserve a place please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Feature of the month: Bonding through food
Last week in Support we were treated to a team meal, eating at Kung Fu Buffet in Fareham. The restaurant served everything from sushi, dumplings and dim sum to chips, pizza and popcorn – pretty much all bases were covered!
The meal was a great opportunity for us to get to know our newer colleagues. What better way to find out about a person than to see first-hand their buffet style? As a continually growing department, it was also lovely to speak with those we wouldn’t usually get the chance to interact with in the office.
There was lots of laughter and great conversation all evening, plus a significant amount of confusion from Becky as to how rum & raisin could be my favourite ice cream flavour! As it turns out, many of the Support team share my view that rum & raisin is the best ice cream flavour!
