Confessions of a Placement Student: July
This month we welcomed another new face as Tikit continues to expand. David joined our Specialist team, which is led by Reuben, and will be assisting Josh in providing Support for our eMarketing products. At the beginning of August two of our Placement students also join us. I’m looking forward to meeting them both and helping them settle in.
July saw the return of two rather familiar faces, last year’s Placement students Yanna and Heidi. Yanna has re-joined our Applications Support team and Heidi has joined our Marketing team in the London office. Yanna & Heidi both achieved first class honours degrees in Computing & International Business respectively – well done girls! This is a massive accomplishment and you’ve set the bar high for the rest of us now (no pressure).
The entire Support team took part in Wellbeing training this month. Spilt into three separate sessions we spent a day learning about the 5 Pillars of Resilience: Energy, Future Focus, Inner Drive, Flexible Thinking & Strong Relationships. We were able to create our own action plans to achieve the goals & objectives we’d set out. This was a different kind of training to what we’ve received before, but still very beneficial and everybody seems really motivated as a result.
I was lucky enough to spend some time with the Finance & Contracts team this month learning about the key processes they use. It was a brilliant opportunity to explore another area of the business and see how different departments interlink. Huge thanks to Kate and Sam for taking the time to show me the work that they do day-to-day, I really enjoyed my time with them.
Feature of the month: My year at Tikit
Somehow I find myself writing my final blog post. The last 12 months have flown by and I’ve accomplished so many things since I joined last August. I’ve had exposure to multiple areas of the business, created tools to assist Support to grow & even contributed to the development of one of Tikit’s own products.
When I began I never thought I would enjoy answering the phone and I still remember how reluctant I felt answering my first call. Now I take great delight in picking up the phone and helping our clients log their issues. I particularly enjoyed being able to resolve simple P4W issues independently. Gaining knowledge of the product to identify quick solutions has been a great addition to my role.
I’ve been involved in raising money for three different charities during my time here: helping to organise Christmas jumper day in December which raised £50 for Save the Children, taking part in Tikit’s 10k virtual run for Naomi House in January & even eating just rice and beans for 5 days in March raising £320 for Tearfund.
Support have had two team meals during my time at Tikit. Who could forget the joy filled faces as we feasted on meat all evening at Casa Brasil or going back for seconds, thirds, fourths & fifths at Kung Fu Buffet. Then there’s the company Christmas party with those dreamy dauphinoise potatoes!
I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everybody at Tikit for making my time here so valuable and enjoyable. A special thanks goes to Becky, for her ongoing support and the endless opportunities she has provided me with.
